Consecration of America for U.S.Catholic Bishops Meeting

Immaculate Mary, most Holy Mother of God and of Our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, we the people of the United States of America at this historic
moment stand before you in a humbled condition of love, loyalty, affection,
and thankfulness. To your Immaculate Heart we recommit and dedicate
ourselves throughout the entire American nation. To your Son Jesus Christ we
pledge to serve His teaching, His church, and to work for His kingdom on
earth. O Mary, to you do we flee for protection. Surround the American
family with your maternal care; enfold us in your arms. Give to this
American land, built on the blood and tears of so many faithful forebears, a
peaceful and praiseworthy existence in truth, love, justice, and freedom. O
Mary, we submit to you as the Patroness of our beloved country. O Mary, Help
of Christians, enfold the Holy Father and the Catholic Church within your
protective cloak; be our shield in the days ahead. Give to the Church true
holiness and freedom. Obtain for our leaders holy zeal, the ability to face
the truth, and the courage to correct all abuses. Stop the flood of atheism,
greed, heresy, impurity, lukewarmness, materialism, and selfishness that
threaten our nation. Show to those who have strayed from the Church the way
to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Mother of God, accept our personal consecration to
you and, through you, bind us forever to the Holy Trinity. Gather us all
into your Immaculate Heart and unite us forever with Jesus.
O Mary, we love you. Amen.

Feast of Corpus Christi

July 1, 2011 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Adoration, Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart of Jesus

This month we celebrate the feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Why do we celebrate Corpus Christi on Sunday and the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday? Again this its because this is what Our Blessed Lord specifically requested. Through His servant Saint Margaret Mary He requested a feast day in honor of the Sacred Heart, within the octave of the feast day of Corpus Christi, because He wanted to spot light, high light, focus, emphasize, dramatize: the Blessed Sacrament is the Sacred Heart of Jesus living and loving in our midst today!  ~ Fr. John Hardon, Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration

Red, White, and Blue

I love ribbon!  I’ve been creating hair bows and crafting with ribbons since I was a child.  I’ve come up with numerous ways to re-purpose the cardboard spools that the ribbon comes on.  Ribbon bracelets are one of my favs.

They’re quick and easy!  They don’t (usually) require a trip to the craft store.  They can be made for all occasions.

Supplies:
  • ribbon
  • cardboard ribbon spool
  • scissors
  • hot-glue gun

Directions:
  1. cut ribbon to 18-32 inches.  ribbon length varies – depending the size of the spool and width of the ribbon
  2. hot-glue the end of the ribbon to the inside of the (clean) ribbon spool.
  3. wrap the ribbon around the spool, slightly overlapping the ribbon.
  4. secure the ribbon to the spool with hot-glue, as needed.
  5. trim the end of the ribbon as needed. secure the end of the ribbon to the inside of the spool using hot-glue.
Embellish and wear!

Pledge to pray the Rosary for America on July 4th.

  • wooden heart
  • wooden cross
  • scissors
  • hot-glue gun
  • orange vellum or construction paper
  • gold paint pen
  • wood burning tool (optional)
  • red paint
  • paint brush

Directions:

  1. use the wood burning tool to make the crown of thorns on the heart
  2. paint the heart – red.
  3. color/paint the wooden cross – gold
  4. cut a flame from the orange vellum
  5. write, with the gold paint pen, the desired inscription on the frame
  6. adhere the cross, flame, and heart to the frame, using a hot glue gun

You can insert a holy card or picture.  We decided to use our frames for prayer intentions.  We use a dry-erase pen to write our prayer intentions on the glass.

Summer Camps

June 28, 2011 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Camp Immaculate Heart, Camp Sacred Heart

This is a first for us, Dad is gone for a week.  This is the longest that he has ever been gone from us.  We’ve been spoiled blessed to have him with us on a daily basis.  Dad will be missed greatly.

His absence is for a good cause. Dad signed up to be the nurse and guide for a boys camp.  He left for Camp Sacred Heart on Sunday Morning.  He’s already created lasting memories and visited the hospital for a camper who needed stitches.    We’ve enjoyed his nightly phone calls to give us a re-cap on his daily blessings.

Here is Dad at Camp Sacred Heart.

I We couldn’t stand the thought of Dad being the only one to enjoy a good time at camp so we made up our own camp, Camp Immaculate Heart.  Rose came up with the name.

Our camp site is our backyard.

Camp Immaculate Heart campers in bed ready for their outdoor movie.

Some activities are planned but most are improvised at the direction of the campers.  Our mission is to pray & play with an emphasis on serving as Our Blessed Mother served, with joy and humility.  We pray that we, united with Dad (at Camp Sacred Heart), will glorify God and grow in virtue.

All for the Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, all through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, all in union with St. Joseph.

Dad’s Day

“Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet especially your family. Be holy – let us pray.” ~ Bl. Mother Teresa

Dad is always striving to glorify God and bring his family to eternal life.  I give thanks to the Good Lord for his humble and loving service to my family and all he encounters.

Dad is patient, Dad is kind: Dad envieth not, Dad dealeth not perversely; Dad is not puffed up;
Dad is not ambitious, Dad seeketh not his own, Dad is not provoked to anger, Dad thinketh no evil;
Dad rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth;
Dad beareth all things, Dad believeth all things, Dad hopeth all things, Dad endureth all things.
~ based on Corinthians 13:4-7, Douay Rheims

Dad is patient and kind; Dad is not jealous or boastful; Dad is not arrogant or rude. Dad does not insist on his own way; Dad is not irritable or resentful; Dad does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.  Dad bears all things, Dad believes all things, Dad hopes all things, Dad endures all things.

Happy 60th Anniversary Papa

June 25, 2011 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Pope, Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on June 29, feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.

In honor of his anniversary, the Vatican Congregation for Clergy suggested Catholic clergy and faithful be invited to participate in Eucharistic Adoration with the intention of praying for the sanctification of the clergy and for the gift of new and holy priestly vocations.
“This is an exceptional opportunity to give thanks for our Holy Father, to pray for all of our priests, and to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood,” said Archbishop Robert Carlson of St. Louis, chairman of the US bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations.

Pope Benedict XVI Ordination. The ordination took place in Freising, in the Concathedral of St. Mary and St. Corbinian of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, on the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul in 1951. About 40 deacons were ordained on this day by the Archbishop of Munich and Freising, His Eminence Michael Cardinal von Faulhaber (already 82 at the time), among them, in addition to Fr Joseph Ratzinger, his brother Fr Georg Ratzinger.
