More Birthday Wishes & A Prayer for Families

August 25, 2023 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Birthday Leave a Comment

My baby girl is 18!!!

We have so many prayers of thanksgiving to offer on this special day, week for us.

But the following is our steadfast prayer for our birthday girl and our entire family!

➕

INDULGENCED PRAYER FOR A CHRISTIAN FAMILY

GOD of goodness and mercy, we commend to Thy all-powerful protection our home, our family, and all that we possess.

Bless us all as Thou didst bless the holy family of Nazareth.

O Jesus, our most holy Redeemer, by the love with which Thou didst become man in order to save us, by the mercy through which Thou didst die for us upon the cross, we entreat Thee to bless our home, our family, our household.

Preserve us from all evil and from the snares of men; preserve us from lightning and hail and fire, from flood and from the rage of the elements; preserve us from Thy wrath, from all hatred and from the evil intentions of our enemies, from plague, famine, and war.

Let not one of us die without the holy sacraments. Bless us, that we may always openly confess our faith which is to sanctify us, that we may never falter in our hope, even amid pain and affliction, that we may ever grow in love for Thee and in charity toward our neighbor.

O Jesus, bless us, protect us.

O Mary, Mother of grace and mercy, bless us, protect us against the evil spirit; lead us by the hand through this vale of tears; reconcile us with thy divine Son; commend us to Him, that we may be made worthy of His promises.

Saint Joseph, reputed father of Our Saviour, guardian of His most holy Mother, head of the holy family, intercede for us, bless and protect our home always.

Saint Michael, defend us against all the wicked wiles of hell.

Saint Gabriel, obtain for us that we may understand the holy will of God.

Saint Raphael, preserve us from ill-health and all danger to life.

Holy guardian angels, keep us day and night in the way to salvation.

Holy patrons, pray for us before the throne of God.

Bless this house, Thou, God our Father, Who didst create us; Thou, divine Son, Who didst suffer for us on the cross; thou, Holy Spirit, Who didst sanctify us in Baptism. May God, in His three divine Persons, preserve our body, purify our soul, direct our heart, and lead us to life everlasting.

Glory be to the Father, glory be to the Son, glory be to the Holy Ghost. Amen.

His Holiness Leo XIII., by a rescript of the S. Congr. of Indulgences, January 19, 1889, granted to the faithful who recite the above prayer:

An indulgence of two hundred days, once a day.

Prayer for Youth to beg tbe Divine Direction in the Choice of a State of Life

O Almighty God! Whose wise and amiable providens watches over every human event, deign to be my light and my counsel in all my undertakings, particularly In the choice of a state of lle.

I know that on this important step my sanctifcation and salvation may in a great measure depend.

I know that I am incapable of discerning what may be best for me: therefore I cast myself into Thy arms, beseeching Thee, my God, Who hast sent me into this world only to love and serve Thee, to direct by Thy grace every moment and action of my life to the glorious end of my creation.

I renounce most sincerely every
other wish, than to fulfil Thy designs on my soul, whaterer they may be; and I beseech Thee to give me the grace, by Imbibing the true spirit of a Christian, to quality myself for any state of life to which Thy adorable providence may call me.

O my Godl whenever it may become my duty do Thou be my light and my counsel, and mercifully deign to make the way known to me wherein I should walk, for I have lifted up my soul to Thee.

Preserve me from listening to the suggestions of my own self-love, or worldly pradence, in prejudice to Thy holy inspirations.

Let Thy good Spirit lead me into the right way, and let Thy adorable providence place me, not where I may naturally feel inclined to go, but where all things may be most conducive to Thy glory and to the good of my soul.

Mary, Mother of Good Counsel, Seat of Wisdom, Help of Christians, pray for me. #frlasance #jffbirthdays

May God Grant Him Many More Years

November 18, 2021 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Birthday, Dad Leave a Comment

My beloved celebrated another year of life. Deo gratias!

He is a glorious husband and father who is always striving to be and do better.

He takes his duties as the head of the family very seriously – as nature imposes it on him, God wills it, and his salvation depends on it.

He honors me in the presence of all — my children, friends, strangers, and before priests. He loves me greatly and helps me to sanctify myself.

There is no doubt in my mind that he loves me as his own body, as himself. He strives after that which enables me to flourish in joy & peace.

The sweetness of his love tempers the force of his God-given authority.

His love is tender and pure, with God as its motive and end; vigilant and devoted, giving with kindness to me all that I need to live and to keep my position.

He supports me in my infirmities and defects with a tender charity, and shares in my joys and sorrows with compassion.

He serves as a means of sanctification for me, and makes it a priority to pray with me. It is by his good example, the sweetness of his virtue, and his charity, that he wins my esteem and affection and sustains me in the right path.

He works at establishing a union with me that is not just physical, but also emotional and spiritual. He constantly remembers that I need emotional support and friendship from him. I never go neglected.

He embraces his duties as a father — to make of them good and manly Christians, useful citizens, and saints for heaven.

He raises our children in the fear of God, corrects them, and seeks to settle them decently in the world.

He completes and consolidates the education which I begin as he has discerned best for our children.

His grace of authority and of strength lends extra power to his words — winning them over.

We give thanks for him everyday and most especially as we celebrate the gift of his life. May God grant him many more years!

A Lenten Birthday

April 8, 2021 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: 03 March, Birthday, Happy Birthday Leave a Comment

My birthday may be in Lent (Holy Week this year) but my beloved always finds a way to celebrate.

43 years old

This year I was surprised with a day date — getaway for a picnic in the park. He even managed to be certain that we kept our Lenten fast/abstinence sans unsweetened chocolate dipped strawberries & bananas (my fave).

My girls asked to do my hair and make-up in the morning while the boys got their hair cut. I thought nothing of it aside from a generous pampering and sharing of self. Then he told me to get ready, Nana was here to watch the children. It was glorious!

Now that we’re in Eastertide and my birthday week (yes, we get birthday weeks here — like an octave of sorts) has come to end, I fully rejoice for the gift of life, my beloved husband, our children (all 14), and His abundant grace.

We continue to celebrate the most glorious season of all, Eastertide.

I leave you with with words from #domprospergueranger :

“Easter is the summit of the Mystery of the sacred Liturgy. The Christian who is happy enough to enter, with his whole mind and heart, into the knowledge and the love of the Paschal Mystery, has reached the very centre of the supernatural life. Hence it is, that the Church uses every effort in order to effect this: what she has hitherto done, was all intended as a preparation for Easter. The holy longings of Advent, the sweet joys of Christmas, the severe truths of Septuagesima, the contrition and penance of Lent, the heart-rending sight of the Passion — all were given us as preliminaries, as paths, to the sublime and glorious Paseh, which is now ours.” #domgueranger

May we all celebrate these 50 days of Easter with great joy! ALLELUIA!

A Wife’s Prayers

November 18, 2020 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Birthday, Dad, Marriage Leave a Comment

My husband is 43, today!!! This is a picture of him at our eldest daughter’s nuptials — July 2020.

I pray in thanksgiving for him, ask that God may grant him many more years, and offer the following prayer for him, our marriage, and our children. 🙏🏼

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Thou didst institute marriage in the in the earthly Paradise and in the New Law Thou didst elevate it to the dignity of a sacrament, attaching to it many graces.

Grant to my husband and me the grace to live holy in so sacred a state and, by the practice of Catholic virtues, to act always as is becoming a Catholic couple.

As Thy minister joined our hands at the holy altar, so may we journey through life with one heart and soul, tasting its pleasures with moderation, enduring its sorrows with resignation and, at all times, mutually assisting and consoling each other.

May Thy true and holy fear strengthen us to restrain the low desires of the flesh, and to serve Thee uprightly with pure heart and eyes and lips, in mutual esteem and forbearance!

Grant that the children born of our union may be pure of heart and well-disposed in mind, and that they may gladly walk in the way of Thy Commandments.

Teach us to be faithful images of the Holy Family of Nazareth, of the blessed foster-father Joseph, of the most devout Mother Mary, the most blessed Mother of the Child Jesus, that we may be made worthy to live under their protection, to die in their favor, and to be forever blessed in their society.

Amen.

Sts. Lawrence, Joseph, Christopher, Peter, Vincent Ferrrer, Helena, Elizabeth of Hungary, Michael, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Marcella, Clare, Alexandria, Alexandra, Matthew, Gabriel, Raphael, Agnes, George, Maria, Januarius, Cajetan, Gavinus, and Peter — ORATE PRO NOBIS.
