We’ve been down playing the celebration of feast days in our home, trying to find our new rhythm of life. Also, the focus has been removed from food since we’re simplifying that area of our life, too.
Today’s feast day celebration for St. Lucy was minimal. We read a few stories, colored some art work and cleaned to prepare for Christ’s coming. The day ended with our Christmas Novena. We all resigned, or so I thought. I went back downstairs several hours after everyone went to bed. Here is what I found…..
Rose made some delicious no grain chocolate chip cookies. I had printed this recipe earlier for future use. I didn’t expect her to stay up to make them tonight. It was a lovely surprise that I’m sure her siblings will reward with tons of kisses. Now, I have to be certain that I leave them some to enjoy.

***Updated Post from 2010***
O God, You have placed us under the special patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and through her You have favored us with endless blessings. May we, who joyfully honor her this day on earth, enjoy her company forever in heaven. Through Our Lord . . .

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Am I not here who am your Mother?
Are you not under my shadow and protection?
Am I not the fountain of your joy?
Are you not in the fold of my mantle, in the cradle of my arms?
~ Blessed Virgin Mary to Juan Diego

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, make intercession for Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff, help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life, burning charity and the precious gift of final perseverance.
