A Historic Opportunity

On the day (6.24.22) on which the Church celebrates the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and also the Birth of Saint John the Baptist, who “leapt in the womb” of his mother Elizabeth (Luke 1:41), the Lord has desired to grant to the United States of America the possibility of redeeming itself, ensuring that its man-made laws are coherent with the natural law impressed by the Creator in the heart of every person.

And this is the essential basis that is necessary for a Nation to be blessed by Heaven. One Nation under God.

A few of our men of all ages leading #olbpilgrimage in reparation for our sins and that of our country & world, all for the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary in union with St. Joseph and all the saints who have walked the hallowed ground we walked.

I hope that the American people will know how to treasure this historic opportunity, and that they will understand that

there cannot be justice anywhere the right to abortion is recognized,

there cannot be peace and prosperity in a society that massacres its own children, and

there cannot be liberty wherever license, vice and pride subvert God’s Commandments.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

The heart stands for love. The human heart of Jesus stands both for His human love and for the infinite love of His divine Person. His love was not just a shimmering, dreamy softness; it was wisely strong and true to its eternal purposes. Despite the anguish of Gethsemane, His love yielded His human life to crucifixion. His love had all the majesty and fullness of God, a height and a depth that make paltry the wisdom of men. Every mystery of His life, every miracle, sermon, and kindness, was a new revelation of divine love that enlightens and warms mankind.

The thoughts of His heart stand through all generations, to deliver their souls from death, and keep them alive in spite of famine.

EPISTLE Eph. 3:8-12, 14-19
Brethren: To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

This Litany was granted Papal approval by Leo the XIII on April 2, 1899. Each line or invocation has a scriptural connection. The Litany can be used during the praying of the Holy Hour of Reparation. It is recited after the First Friday Mass by those Priests who particularly celebrate this devotion. It is also prayed after the Mass of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Pope Leo XXIII wrote an Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which he urged the faithful to recite in order to dedicate themselves to the Heart of Our Lord and God. He asked that it be recited in conjunction with the Litany. Looking upon the dangers and evils of the modern world, the Holy Father composed this prayer as a petition or act of surrender on the behalf of the faithful to the Divine Heart.

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us, humbly prostrate before your altar. We are yours and yours we wish to be; but to be more surely united with you, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to your most sacred heart. Many, indeed, have never known you, many too, despising your precepts, have rejected you. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to your sacred heart. Be you king, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken you, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned you; grant that they may quickly return to their father’s house, lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be you king of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one shepherd. Be you king also of all those who sit in the ancient superstition of the Gentiles, and refuse not you to deliver them out of darkness into the light and kingdom of God. St. Margaret of Scotland ~ Initiative ~ Black Eyed Susan

Here’s a quick recap of my sixth meeting of the year for Little Flowers.

The meeting was held on the First Saturday of February. We took up three pews at Mass. Thirty-four girls were in attendance. This included some new members and the girls preparing for First Holy Communion with Father L.

We did the normal routine; grace, snack and social time, reviewed last month’s saint and virtue, introduced the saint and virtue of the month, studied the coordinating flower, listened to a talk from Father L, received a blessing, worked on a related craft/project, updated LF binders, and closed with a prayer.

Old ~ Feast Day – June 10 – New ~ Feast Day – November 16

The granddaughter of King Edmund Ironside of England, Margaret (c. 1050-93) married King Malcolm III of Scotland. Malcolm perceived that Christ dwelt in the heart of his queen and he was always ready to follow her advice. The royal couple’s chief aims in life were to serve the Church, to maintain justice and to make their subjects happy. Queen Margaret was known as the mother of orphans and the treasurer of the poor of Jesus Christ. Her private life was most austere, and she carefully educated her eight children in the fear and love of God.

The lesson of St. Margaret of Scotland and the virtue of initiative extended into the craft/project time. I opted out of a traditional craft. Instead, I coordinated a Lenten Donation Drive.

Father L and I thought this would be a fruitful way to celebrate St. Margaret of Scotland’s charity. It was also an act of initiative for the girls to begin their preparation for Lent.

The girls decorated fliers to post around the parish and to distribute to family, friends, neighbors, and etc…

All items collected, from now until the end of Lent, will be donated to the local St. Vincent de Paul. This corporal work of mercy will be a beautiful gift to Jesus from all the girls and their families.

The girls showed more initiative by preparing something special for Fr. L, Fr. S, and Fr. M, in honor of St. Valentine. The girls had to complete the following sentence, “I love my Priests because____________.” I recorded each response on a pink doily. Each girl signed her love note.

I took the love notes home to create a banner. I had initially planned to hang the banner in the parish office but soon realized that the banner was far too big, and wonderful, for the closed quarters.

I displayed the banner in the gym on Sunday morning (two days before the feast of St. Valentine) for all to see. It was the perfect place and time since the Rosa Mystica Girls Society was holding their annual bake sale. I only hope that the Little Flowers’ Valentine lasted and was on display for the intended recipients. (I shall find out on Sat.)
