DOUBLE, SECOND CLASS / WHITE
Anne and Joachim, her husband, were both of the royal house of David. They served God continually in prayer and good works, but were looked down upon by the Jews because they were childless. At length God gave them a daughter, who was to become the mother of His own divine son. Because St. Anne devoted herself ceaselessly to educating her child in innocence and sanctity, she is patron of all Christian mothers. St. Paul says that it is by a holy exercise of their parenthood that parents are to be saved (Col. 3:18-21).

Family Prayer on the Feast of St. Anne

Father:   We all rejoice in the Lord,
          As we keep holiday in honor of blessed Anne,
          Of her whose feast fills angels with joy,
          And sets them praising the Son of God.

All:      Amen.

Father:   Spotless Anna, Juda’s glory,
          Through the Church from East to West
          Every tongue proclaims thy praises,
          Holy Mary’s mother blessed.

All:      From thy stem in beauty budded
          Ancient Jesse’s mystic rod;
          Birth from thee received the Mother
          Of the almighty Son of God

Father: Let us pray. O God, You were pleased to bestow Your grace
upon Anne so that she might fitly become the mother of her who
was to bear Your only-begotten Son; grant that we who keep her
feast will be helped by her protection. Through Christ, our Lord.

All: Amen. Christ conquers, Christ reigns!

Prayer to St. Anne

Prayer to obtain special favors through the intercession of St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, the mother of Mary. Her feast is July 26.

Glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke thee, and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at thy feet and humbly beg of thee to take the present affair which I recommend to thee under thy special protection.

Vouchsafe to recommend it to thy Daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face, and with thee and Mary and all the saints, praising and blessing Him to all eternity.

Good St. Anne, mother of her Who is our Life, our Sweetness and our Hope, pray to her for us, and obtain our request. (3 times).

Good Saint Anne,  you were especially favoured by God to be the mother of the most holy Virgin Mary,  and thus grandmother of our Saviour Jesus Christ.  By your intimacy with your most pure daughter and her divine Son, kindly obtain for us the graces that we seek.  Secure for us the strength to perform faithfully our daily duties and the help we need to persevere in the love of Jesus and Mary.  Amen.
