Communion Prayers

May 31, 2010 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: First Communion, First Communion JOY, Prayers

A collection of prayers for First Holy Communicants

He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life everlasting and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. (John 6:55-56)

A Prayer for those who are preparing Children for their First Holy Communion

O Jesus, who hast loved us with such exceeding great love
as to give us the ineffable gift of the Holy Eucharist,
inflame us with a burning zeal to promote Thy glory
by preparing worthily the little children
who are to approach Thy holy table for the first time.
Protect, O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
these young souls from the assaults of evil,
strengthen their faith,
increase their love and endow them
with all the virtues that will make them worthy to receive
Thee.
Amen.

Saint John the Baptist,  forerunner of the Messias, prepare the way for Jesus in the hearts of these children.
Saint Tarcisius, keep safe the
children who are making their first Communion.

3021502 My First Holy Communion
The first time I received Jesus was a wondrous day for me! To be united with Christ my Savior Who dies for us on Calvary. This card reminds me to thank Him for the special gift He gave. The sacrament of Holy Eucharist through which we are all saved. It helps me think of the first time Jesus came into my heart and if I follow His message He and I will never part. As Jesus said on that holy night so many years ago if we take and eat this bread Eternal Life we will know. Each time I receive communion I’ll think of His love for me and I’ll thank Him for giving to us the greatest miracle in history.

1stcommunion3 Prayer at a Child’s First Communion

Lord Jesus Christ, in the Sacrament of
the Eucharist You left us the outstanding manifestation of your limitless love for us.
Thank You for giving our child the
opportunity to experience this love
in receiving the Sacrament for the first time.
May your Eucharist presence keep him/her ever free from sin, fortified in faith, pervaded by love for God and neighbor, and fruitful in virtue, that he/she may continue to receive You throughout life and attain final union with You at death. Amen.

To My Godchild on your First Holy Communion

My prayer for you is one of love. May you know our Father above Will always be your guide. As you travel life’s path seek His ways, May the peace and joy of His love Be with you all of your days.

I Want To Be….

May 14, 2010 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Prayers, Sparkles

sparkles praying in church
Sparkles took a break from her prostrate position while praying the rosary ~ Joyful Mysteries.  She slowly came to me never taking a break in prayer.  When she reached me she said, “I have a secret.”  Not knowing where it was going, I quickly informed her that we don’t keep secrets from mom and dad.  She proceeded in my ear, “I want to be just like Mary!”
Sparkles is 6 years old (soon to be 7 on May 18) and the graces she has received from her recent First Communion (on May 8) are overflowing to our entire family.
Praise be to God!

Rogation Day

May 12, 2010 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Parish, Prayers, Rogation Day

May 11, 2010

"Rogation" comes from the Latin "rogare," which means "to ask," and these are days on which we seek to appease God’s anger, ask His mercy, avert His chastisements, and ask for His blessings, particularly with regard to farming, gardening, and other agricultural pursuits.  ~FISHEATERS

The liturgy, during which the priest is vested in purple, begins with Psalm 43:26, which is followed by the Litany of the Saints. At the Litany’s "Sancta Maria," all stand and the procession begins, which in older times was usually around the border of the parish, giving to the procession the name of "beating the bounds."
The Litany is followed by Psalm 69, a series of petitions, and the Mass, with readings from James 5:16-20 and Luke 11:5-14.

Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.   Eli’jah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.   Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.   My brethren, if any one among you wanders from the truth and some one brings him back,   let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. ~ James 5:16-20

~~~
And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;  and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’?   I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs.  And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.   For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.   What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;  or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"   Now he was casting out a demon that was dumb; when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the people marveled. ~ Luke 11:5-14
In places where the Rogation Days are not kept, all Catholics should pray that God blesses the earth and renders it fruitful for us.
Prayer for Priests
To be said by members
of the Confraternity of St. Peter
Following a decade of the Rosary:
V. Remember, O Lord, Thy congregation.
R. Which Thou hast possessed from the beginning.
Let us pray.
O Lord Jesus, born to give testimony to the Truth,
Thou who lovest unto the end those whom Thou hadst
chosen, kindly hear our prayers for our pastors.
Thou who knowest all things, knowest that they love
Thee and can do all things in Thee who strengthen
them.
Sanctify them in Truth. Pour into them, we beseech
Thee, the Spirit whom Thou didst give to Thy apostles,
who would make them, in all things, like unto Thee.
Receive the homage of love which they offer up to
Thee, who hast graciously received the threefold confession
of Peter.
And so that a pure oblation may everywhere be offered
without ceasing unto the Most Holy Trinity, graciously
enrich their number and keep them in Thy
love, who art one with the Father and the Holy Ghost,
to whom be glory and honour forever.
Amen.
A New Day
May 2, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Faith, Homeschooling, Prayers
Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
It’s that time of year again….to plan for the next school year. This has been an anxious time for me most recently with a new high schooler. All the self doubt started to creep in; Am I doing enough, should I attend another conference, will she be better off elsewhere, must I enroll in a program, is public school (AKA charter school) our financial reprieve….. I trust that I’m following our Lord’s call to disciple our children at home but darn it, where’s my blue print? Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. DT 6:7
My initial tendencies were to pile on the academics and extracurricular. However, I was called to surrender these things and detach from desires and worldly ties. At one time it was for self denial. More recently, it has been out of financial necessity. This, I believe, has been one of the biggest test: will I trust in Him for everything, including schooling? If my family does not have the financial means to sign up for all the extracurricular activities, enroll in the best program, or buy the litany of prescribed texts, should we accept it as a gift from God or should we seek reprieve from mammon to fulfill our desires? I trust it is a gift and He has made our path clearer to choose Him. “No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Mt 6:24
Now if I only I could completely TRUST and SUBMIT EVERYTHING to Him!!!! Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not. Proverbs 3:5
This includes school, our own intelligence, finances….EVERYTHING!!!! Why has this been so difficult for me? I’ve cheated our Lord. I’ve given just enough, right where it’s comfortable and trusted in myself for the rest. My goal of homeschooling is to take my children to a place of refuge where they can fall in love with Jesus, with training and instruction befitting the Lord. Eph 6:4
How is this possible, if I’m not under complete instruction from Our Lord? I trust He will provide the grace but I know He calls me to more and I desire to answer His call, immediately.
I’m making a commitment to give Him everything and I’m choosing now!!!! I’m not going to wait till our next school year to implement what has been placed on my heart. I will make my move, one step closer to Our Heavenly Father and I will take my family and we will not look back. …”No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” Lk 9:62
This is a new day. PRAY FOR US!
