“I must die to myself continually and accept trials without complaining. I work, I suffer and I love with no other witness than his heart. Anyone who is not prepared to suffer all for the Beloved and to do his will in all things is not worthy of the sweet name of Friend, for here below, Love without suffering does not exist.” ~St. Bernadette Soubirous

O dear little St. Bernadette, humble little shepherdess, who wonderingly beheld the Lovely Lady of the Grotto, pray for us to our Lady of Lourdes that she may heal us of our ills. St. Bernadette, pray for the sick and the afflicted.

THE APPARITION OF THE IMMACULATE VIRGIN MARY AT LOURDES

February 11

Traditional Calendar ~ Apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes

New Calendar ~ Optional Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes

During the year 1858 our Blessed Lady appeared eighteen times from February 11 to July 16 to Bernadette Soubirous, the fourteen-year-old daughter of a destitute day laborer of Lourdes in France. Through this humble child, the Mother of God announced to the world her sublime title of the Immaculate Conception and a special message of penance and love.

Mary of the Immaculate Conception is the national patron of the Church in the United States of America, and so we should develop a special interest in helping to fill the treasury of graces that our compassionate Mother distributes so freely for the conversion of sinners to God.

Preface of the Blessed Virgin Mary

It it truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:…

Our Lady of Lourdes

February 12, 2010 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Marian, Monday's with Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes

Things didn’t go as planned desired.  We made due nonetheless and had a blessed feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Sparkles (Bernadette) and Sweetie (Mary) acted out Meredith’s retelling of the apparition of Our Lady.  It was the first time we made reference to Monday’s With Mary.  It’s beautiful.

Here are the treats we had in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Sparkles was in charge of finding the correlation between the treats and feast day.

Our Lady appeared to Bernadette in the Grotto of Massabielle.
Piglets in a blanket are always enjoyed by the little ones when they get to make them on their own.  They like to add cheese.
One day, the Lady told the girl to drink of a mysterious fountain within the grotto itself, the existence of which was unknown, and of which there was no sign. But Bernadette scratched at the ground, and a spring immediately bubbled up and soon gushed forth.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in southern France is the most visited pilgrimage site in the world — principally because of the apparent healing properties of the waters of the spring that appeared during the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a poor, fourteen-year-old girl, Bernadette Soubiroux.
What can I say!  I can’t resist Sonic Happy Hour and I’ve been craving all things tart.  It’s very refreshing!

Holy Mary, Mother of believers, Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

Amen.
