Getting Back On Track

November 11, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Family Night, GFG, Home

It’s been some time since I last posted.  All the little ones have recovered and now the eldest is sick.  She is a trooper and prayerfully helping on the home front.

This time in our life as been like no other.  We have been pulled outside the home more for financial necessity.  We are thankful for the family support and graces from Our Heavenly Father.

I continue to try to find time for all that has occupied our day in the past but seldom ever get to half the items on the list.  This has been very overwhelming for me as I tend to be a perfectionist.  Nonetheless, I’m thankful for the opportunity to surrender and seek Him first. Matthew 6:33

Since the last post we:
missed the pumpkin patch field trip
got a pumpkin from the store
made carmel apples
pieced together All Saints Day costumes at the last min.
were not able to have a booth for All Saints Day
attended our Annual Parish All Saints Day Party
visited Monterey Bay Aquarium on one of their Annual Homeschool Days
played at the beach
detoxed from TV/videos and have been working on training hearts to pleasing to Our Lord (all after being sick and needing time to rest while watching videos and having others wait on your ever need)
had our 3rd Little Flowers meeting
watched the Sandhill Cranes
announced to the kids that they will be having a new baby brother/sister in May!!!

I’ll be trying to get caught up with postings over the next few days.

A Week of FUN!

Feast Day of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

September 7, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Blessed Mother Teresa, Family Night, Novena

Saturday, September 5 was the feast day of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the last day of our Novena to Blessed Teresa. Her intercession in our lives has taken us on a journey to Christ that we desire to continue. Our devotion to her and her charism continue to flourish. We pray to bring her way to our vocation as a married couple and parents, to be JOYfully obedient to our Heavenly Father and become clay that He molds.

It was also first Saturday, a day we devote to Mass and recollection. Our recollection was postponed since the MC’s were celebrating this glorious day.

My day was also filled with our first Little Flower’s meeting. We of course focused on Blessed Teresa and her patron, St. Therese of Lisieux. The girls started the day with First Saturday Mass and then had their meeting. They made Sacrifice Beads and discussed ways to become a Saint.

As a family, we celebrated this feast day with ice cream. It was simple but JOYful, Mother Teresa style.

Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Cause of our JOY,
Pray for us.
Blessed Mother Teresa,
Pray for us.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

August 20, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Assumption, Family Night, Marian

All-powerful and ever-living God, you raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of your Son, body and soul to the glory of heaven. May we see heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We celebrated the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with family and friends. We first attended Mass together, where the elder girls (5) sung in the High Mass. Then we retreated home to but the little ones (6) to rest. All (17 between 2 families) arrived refreshed for a JOYous time. Here was the rainbow cake that Sweetie chose, in honor of Mary. She was able to choose since her feast day is in August.

Your Assumption was for you not only the crowning of a holy life, but also a cause of joy and triumph for the human race. Just as the patriarchs in Limbo had beheld your birth as the breaking of that dawn which announced to them their near deliverance, so, too, your Assumption, together with the Ascension of Jesus, became for mortal man a sure pledge of resurrection and immortality.

Mary, My Mother, I wish to recall this triumph and to share in your greatness and glory. – Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D.
