“The true and faithful vassal of Christ the King, the true warrior of Christ the King, must constantly maintain a full notion of what is happening around him, seeing and lamenting all that denies the royalty of Our Lord. It is of no avail just to have generic abstract ideas if they are not applied to the practical situations of our lives.

A Catholic who does not assume an attitude of sorrow and bitterness when he sees the royalty of Our Lord being denied today is not a true soldier of Christ the King.

We should be known for constantly taking this attitude of bitter sorrow to see the rights of Our Lord denied around us. It should not be a sterile, academic thing, but a manly indignation that prepares a counter-attack to put things in their correct order as soon as possible.

Adopting this condition of persons in exile, we should pray to Our Lord, asking Him to allow us to restore His Kingdom on earth in the most authentic and elevated way possible, that is to say, through the royalty of Our Lady. Most Sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but to be more surely united to Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates ourselves today to Thy Most Sacred Heart.

Many indeed have never known Thee; Many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful children, who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children, who have abandoned Thee; Grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.

Christ the King Craft

The littles missed out on their CCM Co-op meeting today due to illness but that didn’t stop the crafting fun.  It was my turn to lead the preschool children with CCM Gamma Week 7 materials.

The book selected was The Donkey Who Carried a King.  The book selected makes a great read for Lent in preparation for Easter but it also provides a great mediation for Advent.  I selected a craft that could double up for Advent, Christ the King and donkey felt stick puppets.  It only required 240 cut pieces of felt.

Christ the King & Donkey Craft

The Donkey Who Carried a King

Supplies:

  • Felt pieces for Christ the King and the donkey – I modified the patterns found here
    • Red body, purple tunic, flesh tone head, brown beard and hair, gold crown, gray donkey, black mane, and pink nose.
  • Aleene’s Craft Glue
  • Popsicle stick to apply glue
  • 2 – Large craft sticks
  • Sequins (Christ’s crown)
  • Black yarn (donkey’s tail)
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions:

  1. Cut felt pieces
  2. Assemble Christ the King using the craft glue
    • Red body, purple tunic, head, beard, hair, crown
  3. Assemble the donkey using the craft glue
    • Gray body, pink nose, purple saddle, black mane, double tie black yarn to the tail
  4. Embellish as desired (i.e.; black eyes, sequins jewels on the crown, trim mane, etc…)
  5. Affix each felt character to a large craft stick using the hot glue gun

Pray once a day for 9 days, especially beginning 10 days before the Feast of Christ the King (the last Sunday in October).

Saturday October 18 – Sunday, Oct. 26, the traditional Feast of Christ the King in 2014

Say one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be before praying the following prayer:
O Lord our God, Thou alone art the Most Holy King and Ruler of all nations.
We pray to Thee, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving from Thee, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things. Protect, O Lord our King, our families and the land of our birth.
Guard us we pray, Most Faithful One. Protect us from our enemies and from Thy just judgment. Forgive us, O Sovereign King, our sins against Thee.
Jesus, Thou art a King of Mercy. We have deserved Thy just judgment. Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us. We trust in Thy Great Mercy.
O most awe-inspiring King, We bow before Thee and pray: may Thy reign, Thy Kingdom, be recognized on earth. Amen.

Novena to Christ the King

JESUS, Thou didst declare that Thy Kingdom is upon the earth, but not of the earth; it is a spiritual, supernatural Kingdom, the Kingdom of truth. It fights with the power of conviction, and conquers by this means the hearts that by right belong to it. Thou Thyself art witness to this truth, and Thou Thyself art the Truth.

Jesus, I believe that Thou art truly a King because Thou hast come into the world to institute among people the rule of God; every person who is of the truth, who believes in God and recognizes His authority in human affairs, owes Thee a loyal and undivided allegiance and “hears Thy voice.”

As a Catholic I am a member of Thy Kingdom, and Thou art my King. To Thee I owe loyalty, obedience, and love. Help me to carry out these most sacred duties toward Thee. I wish to be “of the truth ” that is “a child of God” and gladly to hear Thy voice and follow Thee in all things. I accept Thee as my King and submit to Thy authority.

Especially, I undertake to help, to the extent of my means, to secure the triumph of the rights of God and of Thy Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my poor efforts so that all hearts may acknowledge Thy sacred Royalty and the Kingdom of Thy peace may be established throughout the entire universe. Amen.

Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Feast of Christ the King

On the Feast of Christ the King, celebrated on the last Sunday of October (the Sunday before the Feast of All Saints) and initiated in 1925 by Pius XI in his Encyclical Quas Primas, there follows after the Mass a Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We kneel before the Sacrament and recite the following consecration. Afterwards, there is a Litany and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. In praying the Consecration, going to Confession, and receiving the Eucharist on this day (when devoutly done), the faithful receive a plenary indulgence.

Sunday, October 26, 2011 is the feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  One may gain a plenary indulgence by the public recitation of the Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The kingship and empire of Christ have been recognized in the pious custom, practiced by many families, of dedicating themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; not only families have performed this act of dedication, but nations, too, and kingdoms. In fact, the whole of the human race was at the instance of Pope Leo XIII, in the Holy Year 1900, consecrated to the Divine Heart.

We institute the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ to be observed yearly throughout the whole world on the last Sunday of the month of October – the Sunday, that is, which immediately precedes the Feast of All Saints.
