31 Days of reflections from a pregnant mama

31 Days of reflections from a pregnant mama - JOYfilledfamily

I knew that I wanted to follow along with the blog craze for October, 31 Days.

What’s 31 Days? Basically anyone can join in, just pick a topic and write about it every day for the month of October–we all come here and link up on October 1st. Think short posts with one point made each day.

~ The Nester

I just didn’t know what I would hone in on – my mind is going in a million directions. Sure, one would say that it’s probably due to the pregnancy hormones but the truth is, it’s my reality in or out of pregnancy.

My first desire was to use the 31 Days as a retreat and share my reflections. My next desire was to share my discernment journey. Another thought was to get my home in order and use the 31 Days as my accountability. There were many more desires that lingered. With all those thoughts, I had an overwhelming urge to do nothing. I resisted the urge and have moved forward – I fight my flesh to be all or nothing.

I will be participating in the 31 Days with my reflections, Reflections from a Pregnant Mom. In other words, I couldn’t narrow it down. I will most likely take inspiration from the other 31 Dayers that I’ll be following. Just to list a few:

  • 31 Days to a Heart of Hospitality – Life in Grace
  • 31 Days of the Saints – Joy Beyond the Cross
  • 31 Days of Homeschooling Through A Crisis – Reality Homeschooling
  • 31 Days to Crazy Joy – A Holy Experience
  • 31 Days to Remind Myself of the Mission – In the Heart of My Home

My posts my get deep, personal, help me to prepare for the arrival of this new blessing, be random, or not be much of posts at all. Whatever the case may be, I pray that it all glorify God.

You are invited to follow along and leave comments if you so desire.

Ad Jesum per Mariam,

P.S.  The pic of the pregnant mama was created at DesignHerGals.com, a place to create personalized stationary.  The pregnant mama is my ideal version of me during pregnancy.  I gave thanks that the site didn’t offer a preg option for their plus size gals.  I’ve decided to enjoy this version of me – ALL FOR!

16 Weeks

This sono pic was a consolation for a brief cross that led me to the arms of my Blessed Mother, where I so desire to stay but often times slip away.
All is well – DEO GRATIAS!
May His will be done!

Our Lady, Help of Mothers
During Pregnancy
Dearest Mary, I look to you now for the help of your maternal love. You understand my trials as an expectant mother. You bore Jesus in your womb. You know the doubts and anxieties that beset me; you know the bodily suffering I endure. Like you, may I turn all these sorrows into joy. You overcame anxiety by a loving trust in God; you overcame doubt by gentle resignation to His will.
Your motherhood lifted your mind above earth and kept it close to God.
So speak to Jesus now with me, beloved Mother, as I seek prayerfully to learn to bear the trials of motherhood with joy.
Mother of Perpetual Help, Pray for me!

Summer Beverage of Choice

Iced Raspberry Leaf Tea has been my daily refresher.  It is a non-caffeinated mild herbal tea similar to black tea and it has many benefits. You can read about some of the benefits at WellnessMama.

I can’t seem to keep up with the demand for this yummy drink in my home.  I’ve been brewing a large concentrated batch of tea every three to four days.  My initial supply came from HerbalKatie.  My next supply will come straight from Mount Rose Herbs.

I’m beyond trilled that I have an excuse to drink this daily for another six months.

Guess What…

I’ve been trying to come up with a clever way to share some blessed news but figured I’d let you find out the same way everyone else is finding out.

Take a look at the video.

Dad and I believe that this was a wonderful grace from our recent pilgrimage.  This is my eleventh pregnancy, first since a series of two back to back miscarriages.

We’ve known I was pregnant since I was two weeks along.  The days have been slowly passing as I anxiously waited for the the six-eight week mark, hoping, praying for the opportunity to carry this beloved blessing to full-term.  The waiting has been a beautiful gift for me, uniting me closely to Our Lord and Blessed Mother.

I heard the baby’s heart beat at seven weeks.  I’m nine weeks along, today – Deo gratias!
