Novena to Blessed Teresa – Day 2

August 30, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Blessed Mother Teresa, Novena

…”The devil may try to use hurts of life, and sometimes our own mistakes, to make you feel it is impossible that Jesus really loves you, is really cleaving to you. This is a danger for all of us. And so sad, because it is completely opposite of what Jesus is really wanting, waiting to tell you…He loves you always, even when you don’t fell worthy.”

“Jesus loves you tenderly, you are precious to Him. Turn to Jesus with great trust and allow yourself to be loved by Him. The past belongs to His mercy, the future to His providence, and the present to His love.”

~ Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Novena to Blessed Teresa

August 28, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Blessed Mother Teresa, Novena

On Friday, August 28 we will start a Novena and meditations to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, found here. Priests for Life is also starting a special novena to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. The novena will end on September 5, the anniversary of her death, in 1997.

“Keep the JOY of loving God in your heart and share this JOY with all you meet especially your family. Be holy – let us pray.” ~ Mother Teresa

Prayer to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
(prayed each day of the novena)
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus (here make your request). Teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Cause of Our Joy, pray for me.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta,
pray for me.

Mother Teresa Novena
Father of Life,
You always defend the poor and oppressed.

In Blessed Teresa of Calcutta,
You raised up a voice for the voiceless
And a friend to the poorest of the poor, the unborn child.

She brought women away from the despair of abortion clinics
To the hope of a loving community That cared for her and her child.
She spoke the truth to men and women of power,
Asking them how we could tell people not to kill one another
While allowing a mother to kill her own child.

Father, as we honor this humble and faithful woman,
We ask you to give us the grace
To follow her example.

May we be bold in word and generous in action
To love and serve the unborn
And to awaken our world to know, as Mother Teresa said,
That the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.

Fill us with love, bring us peace, and let us share your life forever.
We pray through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Novena to Discern God’s Holy Will

July 23, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Novena, St. Ignatius of Loyola

St. Ignatius of Loyola’s feast day is in 9 days, July 31. A mother from my parish’s homeschooling community has initiated the start of a Novena to St. Ignatius.

I thought it only fitting to accept the invite. I’ve just returned from a Silent Ignatius Retreat and can give testimony to St. Ignatius’ powerful intercession.

Please join me in prayer for the discernment of God’s Holy Will in all areas our lives, including homeschooling.

The Novena starts today (7.23). Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

NOVENA

Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.Grant, O Lord, that my heart may neither desire nor seek anything but what is necessary for the fulfillment of Thy holy Will. May health or sickness, riches or poverty, honors or contempt, humiliations, leave my soul in that state of perfect detachment to which I desire to attain for Thy greater honor and Thy greater glory.
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory Be
O my God, teach me to be generous:to serve you as you deserve to be served;to give without counting the cost;to fight without fear of being wounded;to work without seeking rest;and to spend myself without expecting any reward, but the knowledge that I am doing your holy will.
Amen.
