One Sink At A Time

December 13, 2010 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Advent, Home, Organization 1 Comment

I have been somewhat overwhelmed since having our newest blessing.  My home has been a reflection of my state.  Nonetheless, I am determined to follow His prompting to regain order during this Advent season, one sink at a time.

Like Mother, Like Daughter is hosting a Kitchen Sink Linky Party.  Thank you Auntie Leila for the gentle prompting.

…Well, not really but majority of the hard work is complete.  It was an improvement from last year.  For that, I’m thankful!

Getting Back On Track

November 11, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Family Night, GFG, Home

It’s been some time since I last posted.  All the little ones have recovered and now the eldest is sick.  She is a trooper and prayerfully helping on the home front.

This time in our life as been like no other.  We have been pulled outside the home more for financial necessity.  We are thankful for the family support and graces from Our Heavenly Father.

I continue to try to find time for all that has occupied our day in the past but seldom ever get to half the items on the list.  This has been very overwhelming for me as I tend to be a perfectionist.  Nonetheless, I’m thankful for the opportunity to surrender and seek Him first. Matthew 6:33

Since the last post we:
missed the pumpkin patch field trip
got a pumpkin from the store
made carmel apples
pieced together All Saints Day costumes at the last min.
were not able to have a booth for All Saints Day
attended our Annual Parish All Saints Day Party
visited Monterey Bay Aquarium on one of their Annual Homeschool Days
played at the beach
detoxed from TV/videos and have been working on training hearts to pleasing to Our Lord (all after being sick and needing time to rest while watching videos and having others wait on your ever need)
had our 3rd Little Flowers meeting
watched the Sandhill Cranes
announced to the kids that they will be having a new baby brother/sister in May!!!

I’ll be trying to get caught up with postings over the next few days.

A Week of FUN!

Garage/PLAYROOM

July 22, 2009 by Lena {JOYfilledfamily} Filed Under: Home, Playroom

My DH had a week to play as I was gone for retreat. He did play but he mostly worked….for me. I came home to a sparkling clean house (far better than I left it) and many surprises. One of which was Rose had surgery. Others included; our backyard was prepared for future landscaping; the school room was cleared out for a makeover; my bathroom and laundry room were deep cleaned; and our above ground pool was removed. The best surprise was my garage.
My garage has been completely filled from our move about 2 years ago. I was unable to help at that time because I was on bed rest with Papi. My DH and family packed and moved for me. This relieved me but meant that many things that I would of purged were sent to our new home. It has been somewhat overwhelming. In addition, I wanted to move our indoor play gym out of the house but not outdoors. The garage was the solution. It is rather large and would be a great playroom. All of our previous plans to turn the garage into the playroom were foiled. Until…..most recently when my husband decided to plot behind my back.
He rallied his newly retired mom. She is a super organizer/cleaner and now has plenty of free time on her hands. His dad also joined the crew. Together they all pulled off the best surprise ever!
Below are the pictures of our garage. It is not complete but I’m thrilled that the kiddos have a place to play other than under the stairs (the old playroom).
